We are currently accepting applications for our Fashion Design Internship. Jahde Leather Atelier offers talented interns a unique, fast-paced enviornment with hands-on learning experiences. Internships can be completed for college credit and are based at our shop in Charleston, SC.
LEARNING GOALS
-Gain retail and ecommerce experience
-Experience in shoe design
-Learn what it takes to start your own business
-Gain experience setting up a retail shop
-Learn how to cut leather and various other materials
-Take inventory of raw materials
-Learn how to calculate cost of goods
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
-Fashion design, technical design, or production background.
-Knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, sewing techniques, trim and technical knowledge
-Pattern design experience
-Sketching Abilities
-Experience working with leather preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support design inspiration, mood, and collection development;
- Develop image content and design brand concepts from start to finish;
- Production support in the garment district – fabric/ trim sourcing & purchasing, fittings, tech packs, and quality control.
- Responsibilities will also depend on intern’s specific skills and desires for area of improvement.
COMMITMENT
-Start date: February 1
-Schedule: 3 days a week until April- mornings ideal
-April- Start of production and busy season. Majority of hours concentrated in April.
